Global Children's Heart Network
Globally, congenital heart disease is found in the proportion of eight out of 1,000 births, of which about half are congenital heart disease that requires surgery. However, despite having congenital heart disease, some Asian people having economic difficulties often cannot even dream of having heart surgery due to lack of medical staff, medical equipment, and expensive surgery costs. The fundamental solution to the poor situation is to educate and train pediatric heart doctors and help them perform the surgeries within the countries. To do so, it is necessary for Korean doctors to visit and operate there for the time being. The Global Children’s Heart Network, cooperating with the ADF, supports Cambodian pediatric heart doctors and pediatric thoracic surgeons with a vision to perform pediatric heart surgery locally. The foundation provides surgeries and procedures to about 10 children every year.
